Douglas Fir Forests,
British Columbia Canada

About this project.

In 2017, forest fires swept through British Columbia, destroying one million hectares of land and tens of millions of trees. One Tree Planted is planting 1 million trees in BC to help the land and forests recover.

Planting trees in BC is paramount for so many reasons, and tree planting is the best and most efficient way to help the forests recover after wildfires.

The story focuses on the Yunetsit'in land that was destroyed in the 2017 Hanceville fire. By planting trees in partnership with the First Nations communities and government in British Columbia, we're hoping to accelerate the rate at which the Douglas Fir forests will recover from these unprecedented fires.

About British Columbia

British Columbia is Canada’s most ecologically diverse province. It has temperate rainforests, dry pine forests, boreal forests, alpine tundra, grasslands and more. More than 1,100 species of birds, fish, mammals, amphibians and reptiles live in B.C., some found nowhere else in Canada. In summer 2017, British Columbia experienced the worst wildfire season in its history. It was unprecedented in the amount of land burned (over 1.2 million hectares).

Madagascar Carbonoffsetcompany

Madagascar

Madagascar is a nation with over 200,000 species of plants and animals that don’t exist anywhere else in the world. But more than 90% of original forests have been destroyed, displacing entire animal species and taking away the Malagasy’s ability to farm and live on the land.

Haiti

Haiti is the world’s 3rd hungriest country, and only 2% of the country’s original forests remain.
